The Confidence Code

The new book, The Confidence Code, by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman brings together plenty of evidence in the form of scientific studies for how women undermine their own confidence. The five common mistakes women make, the authors say, are

  • thinking too much
  • carrying criticism around for too long
  • staying in their comfort zones
  • failing to voice their opinions
  • failing to take risks because of they carry the possibility of failure

All of which, with some subtleties, we would ascribe to Social Anxiety.

Given the context, I suspect that the brooding/obsessing of the first category is brooding/obsessing about being judged, i.e. more social anxiety.
